Food excellent .....service wasnt good from our waitress

This was a stumble across place. As many time I go down Goodman Road. My friend had a going away party here. Green building and authentic decor. The service was attentive and quick. The food was good. I had nachos. Kids had enchiladas. And others ordered this overly stuffed steak, shrimp and chicken thing. A+ Good portions for the price. Weekdays Mon-Thur Margaritas are 2.99. They have a lunch menu as well. On this Saturday a good size crowd, the workers were rolling with the orders and cleaning just as quickly. I need to return when it’s not with a party pack. Just to really explore the menu and eat and drink. ;)

Food was great. My birthday is today 23 of August. I miss the 1/2 priced margaritas on Thursday. So I asked if by today being my birthday could I get my 2nd one 1/2 price. The answer was no. How softer do you turn 70???? It's just me and my dog. I have a margarita 2twice a year. My birthday and my best friend birthday. She passed away last year. How much would it have cost them for 1/2 price margarita????Waitress was very nice.

I see a lot of positive reviews for this place, and I am not sure why.1) When I walked in, I almost turned around and left due to the smell. I can't fully describe it, other than being 'old dirty restaurant' smell.2) The chips were so incredibly greasy! After less than half a basket, it felt like I had applied chapstick to my lips.3) I had a fajita. It was fairly standard for a Mexican restaurant, but really lacked much flavor. It was also very dry, despite having chorizo in it.I have had far worse food...but I am certain that I will never eat at this place again.

First time eating here and I loved it! Service was accurate and speedy. I ordered the steak quesadilla and it was delicious. Queso and sweet tea was very good as well! Definitely will be returning!

Great food, nice staff and really great service. We had a party of 9 and every server stepped in and catered to our every need. We really enjoyed ourselves. The prices are really great as well.

Love dining here! The staff is amazing and food comes out fast and delicious. I pass 4 restaurants coming from Walls because they are the best in Desoto Co.

Always great service, great food, and they have a Pokemon go stop! Only thing I don't like is smoking inside in half of the restaurant, although separated by a wall the smoke can still be overpowering in certain areas of the restaurant regardless. Overall love it!

Rated it a 4 due to service and ambiance. Staff was courteous, attentive and we're constant in their attention to you. It's a cozy place. But not afraid of a large family. Here's the rub: Although the food was hot and quick to obtain, the quality of the gr. Beef they used tasted inferior. Perhaps it was the seasoning or they lack thereof, it just tasted like taco Bell. A sit down Mexican restaurant should present a better quality.

Went to El Charro on Valentines Days with my friend and I was so disappointed because I really love this place but they had only the men’s bathroom working that was used that night for men and women because the women’s bathroom was out of order and it was stinky and disgusting over flowing with urine and bowel movement. I couldn’t believe my eyes how popular this restaurant is and had no working restrooms .

Food isn't greasey and excellent service :) will be back

Good vegitarian choices

This is our go-to Mexican joint now. We have to drive past 2 other Mexican restaurants to get to this one but it's totally worth it.

I've been eating here since they were in the building on stateline rd. Years and years later I have no complaints!!! A+ Friendly service and the food is always good also.

My husband and I came to place a to-go order. We thought the guy understood the order. When we returned home my husbands order was completely wrong. I brought it back to the restaurant and was informed that I needed to pay an extra $4.98 in order to get the food corrected. While waiting for the first order my husband told me to look at the vents. There was mold growing around every vent you could see from the door.

The food is really great....when they get your order right. I always go here when I'm craving carne asada tacos because they are the closest to 'authentic' that I've found since I moved here. Sadly, I've never once had my order come without some kind of issue. They also changed the meat they use in the tacos, which is very disappointing.

My family and I love to come to El Charro! Always good service.

The service here was phenomenal! The food was delicious and all of the employees did an outstanding job from beginning to end. We will definitely be coming here frequently. Words cannot do justice to my experience here i absolutely loved it

Our family visited El Charron southhaven tonight For the first time and were very disappointed. As soon as we entered the building, the smell of cigarettes was horrible!!! My daughters order was wrong, we got cold cheese dip (only reheated it when I mentioned it to the waiter) When my daughter ordered dessert, they were out of everything she asked for so she had to settle for what the waiter brought her but he mentioned he didn’t charge us for it. Lol And last, when my husband got the check, We noticed that we were charged for extra cheese dip when it wasn’t ordered or asked for. I mentioned it at the register and all cashier could say is “they put extra cheese on it” but he couldn’t understand what I was trying to explain that we didn’t ask or order it. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Overall it was a bad experience and I don’t see how they have the rating they do!!

Service was great. The food wasn't what I remembered from past visits, as it tasted prepared from cans & frozen meals. Jack cheese was actually canned nacho style. I was disappointed. Hope it improves.

My food was very flavorful and delicious. It was hot and it was served in a timely manner. I.also ordered a walk me down which was fixed exactly to my liking. My waitress was awesome which makes a big impact on the dining experience. The prices for the food were reasonable as well. This was my first time there but I definitely will be going back😊

We are from Texas and recently moved to the Memphis area. We heard we wouldn’t find any authentic Mexican food, and it wouldn’t be spicy. The food wasn’t what we consider “traditional” authentic, but it was great. Ask for the other salsa options if you like your salsa hot, we got the hottest one and it was fresh, Hot, and delicious. Price is phenomenal considering the large portions sizes. Service was good, and everything was flavorful and well worth it.

The food is awesome and cheap. Still has a smoking and none smoking area and a outside patio for eating. A full bar with specials

Amazing service, atmosphere was very good, food was soooooooo fast, and easily the best mexican food I have ever had, margirittas were good and strong, white cheese dip was hot and tasty, just a all around amazing experiance. And for those looking in these pandemic times, no you do not have to wear a mask as a customer, but they do split crowds up several booths apart unless you all are together, and all staff were wearing masks, and cooks were wearing masks and gloves, and changed them out very often from what i could see. As i said just a all around great experiance!

It was a good meal, but nothing to ride home about. Margaritas were extremely strong, and service was so-so.
